Hello! I'm Heather Lounsbury.
I'm a Biologist turned WordPress Designer + Developer.
I have a pair of science degrees in Human Biological Sciences (pre-med) and Medical Laboratory Science. I love science and spent six years working in a hospital lab.
About 12 years ago (around the time I failed as a blogger), I started learning HTML and CSS as a hobby. I quickly became infatuated with using markup and code to create beautiful and functional websites. Because of my habit of turning my hobbies into side hustles, I launched a WordPress design business and quit my day job in the lab when it became successful.
After six years running of my own design agency and shop, I joined the team at NerdPress, where we provide WordPress support and maintenance plans for internet publishers. I'm currently the Chief Operating Officer, helping to lead a team of nineteen WordPress Nerds in providing amazing support to our clients.
When I'm not in front of my computer...
You'll find me hanging out with my two kiddos, our sweet kitty boy, Max, and our snuggle bug puppy, Maple.
We live in the Great Northwest, where we love to get outside and explore the mountains, valleys, and forests around us. I also love to travel and never turn down a chance to explore the world, find new adventures, and make new memories.
If I'm not out traveling and exploring, chances are also good you'll find me curled up with a book in front of the fireplace, sipping a cup of coffee.
You won't often catch me watching television, I just can't sit still that long. But when I do park myself on the couch and turn on the TV, I'm usually catching up on my favorite cooking show, documentary, or sci-fi series.
I'm a very literal person.
I like to use words precisely to say exactly what I mean. I don't like double-speak or hidden meanings. I mesh best with people who are honest and plain spoken. If you don't like what I have to say, please remember that this is my little corner of the internet where I express my thoughts. So, if you don't like my musings, feel free to move on to somewhere else where you'll feel more comfortable.
I write about...
- Working from home
- And anything else that my wandering mind fancies.
If any of that sounds of interest to you, head over to my blog to read some of my musings.
